Cervélo Bicycles is a company that has taken the bicycle world not by storm but by engineering.  Started in 1995, this company boosts a number of achievements in this timeframe.  First, Cervélo has become an icon in triathlons, where it is seen as the ride of choice. Second, Cervélo has applied aerodynamic design to road frames in its Soloist series and lightweight design in its R series frames.  Its' impact on the road cycling scene is evident with Team CSC, who has ridden to victory in multiple settings, including Alpe D'Huez, Paris Roubaix and the World Time Trial Championships.   This is a bike company that sets the standards others try to emulate.

Cervélo has a focused distribution strategy and only goes to a select set of dealers in the U.S. TARGETRAINING is fortunate to be Cervélo's partner in lower Fairfield County and hopes that you who should be fascinated by what Cervélo offers has a chance to stop reading about Cervélo's latest wizardry to visit TARGETRAINING to see, touch and try these machines in person.  All Cervélo bicycles are full carbon with the exception of the Team Soloist, which is aluminum.

SLC-SL (SL stands for "Super Light")

MSRP: $6900 full bike; $4500 frameset

All the superlatives that can be written have been on this bike. Let's get to the short strokes: this is the most aerodynamic frameset while being among the lightest and stiffest as well.  The standard kit is great value. You may also build this bike up using a custom kit; we will enjoy helping you select the perfect components to go with this perfect frame.  Also, the pictures on this bike do not do it justice. The frame is spectacular to look at; the carbon texture adds major aesthetic points.

The founders of Cervélo think this is the best frame they have built to date, despite the steep competition from the R3-SL.  Can this bike climb (look left)? Can it sprint? All the CSC sprinters use it. Can it handle a big guy (his name starts with Jen) -- yes. Go ahead, study the technical details. We'll give you the straight scoop -- get it if you dare go as fast as you can.  What allows Cervelo to bring you such an excellent frame? Cervélo says: "The reason we can make [the SLC-SL] that strong, stiff and light even without using the structurally optimized Squoval shapes of the R3 and R3 SL is once again our unmatched engineering prowess. We use the best design tools, we even develop some of our own software for carbon lay-up analysis, but most importantly we have the best engineers using those tools."  If you wish to delve into the engineering behind, please click here.

SLC (Soloist Full Carbon)

MSRP: $5000 full bike; $2800 frameset

Well, you know this is a fast frame. CSC has won a lot of races on this frame.  And you know it is light, just not as light as the SLC-SL. If you wish to keep your investment in the $5000 range for a full bike, or $3000 for a frameset, you should seriously consider this aerodynamic wonder.

Team Soloist

MSRP: $2000 full bike!

This ultegra bike gives you a considerable amount  of the aerodynamic advantages of its much more expensive SLC-SL cousin, while at the same time also offering a light and stiff ride. Why so inexpensive? Of course, it's made out of aluminum. Is aluminum bad? Or are you just lucky Cervélo still makes aluminum bikes? We think the latter.  This is an incredible value for a bike that will help you go faster.

R3-SL (Yes, this SL also stands for Super Light)

MSRP: $6000 full bike; $3600 frameset

This is Cervelo's sub 900 gram full carbon wonder frame. This is the best of the best.  If you have to have it, this is the it.  Call us up or stop by if you are interested...This is a very comfortable ride, so those who want a bike that climbs forever but is easy on the body, you've found your ride. There is a reason this is good in Paris Roubaix.  The full bike is built up with a Dura-ace kit.

While the R3-SL is not as aero as its richer cousin the SLC-SL, it is pencil thin in the weight and seat stay department.  Those seat stays make it the most comfortable, smooth riding of the machines Cervelo has to offer.  So, let's say this is the sports sedan offering from Cervelo, one that happens to corner and climb incredibly well.

R3

MSRP: $5000 full bike; $2800 frameset

A sub 1000 gram full carbon frame which is as stiff as it is light and rides comfortably without breaking? Impossible? No, just the Cervélo R3.  Yes you can get the R3-SL which is yet another 100 grams lighter.  However, this is a pretty sweet ride and worth taking a long look at if you are in the market for a great bike.

RS

MSRP: $4000 full bike; $2480 frameset

In Cervélo's own words, it received requests for a longer headtube length to accommodate riders whose optimal position requires higher handlebar positions. Since fit is such a critical element of bicycles, this is an excellent addition to Cervélo's line of road frames.  This higher position is not necessarily a reflection of rider flexibility, although that is a factor in choosing this frame.  To help smaller riders who don't worry about rapid wheel changes, the RS comes in a 650 frame for its smallest size.

P2C

MSRP: $2500 ultegra full bike; $3000 dura-ace full bike; $1800 frameset

Is this a knock-out of a bike? The winner of Kona in 2007 was not even wearing an aero helmet! Just her ability and a P2C and that was enough. A killer bike at a price that we think is compelling.  There are a lot of triathlon bikes more expensive but very few as good.

P3C

MSRP: $4500 dura-ace full bike; $3300 frameset

This frameset has set the standard for all time trial and triathlon framesets.  Is it the best? We're looking for a flaw. If you find one please call us to let us know what it is.  Or please come down to see one of these and test ride it for yourself. There are more expensive but no more effective frames for going fast on your own. And the dura-ace bike is great value.
