Mandy Lozano
When Mandy shows up at a cyclo-cross race in her trademark beanie hat and engaging smile, plants herself in a lawn chair on the side of the course, and chatters away as she cheers for her multitude of friends, do not be fooled: she is about to rip your legs off in the women's race. Mandy set fire to the 2006 ‘cross season, capping off a fantastic year with a 9th place in the Elite Women's National Championship and 2nd place in the Women's 30-34 National Championship. On the road, Mandy won eight races in 2005 as a member of BMW-Bianchi Elite Cycling Team, before moving into the role of super-domestique for Cheerwine in 2006. She's an all-rounder who can win criteriums, road races, and time trials, and last May set the course record at the 2006 Town Mountain Hill Climb. Mandy grew up on a cattle ranch in Oregon, off the grid and eating vegetables grown by artist parents. An environmental ethic guides her actions and defines her ambitions. Mandy has worked extensively in marketing, currently at TARGETRAINING and previously at Burt's Bees, and will begin the University of Virginia's prestigious MBA program this fall. She aspires to bring about the adoption of sustainable supply chain practices in the consumer packaged goods industry. Given her tenacity on the bike, there's no question she will do it.
