July 2nd.  July 1st. Fitchburg, Massachussets. The women's team ended up with a number of podiums and look well prepared for Nationals. The race started with a win in the time trial by the women's team! Anna Milkowski got first, and Kathleen Billington pulled second, with Hiroko fourth and Rebecca Much fifth. Anna Milkowski and Kathleen Billington continued to ride strongly, getting 2nd and 5th in the tough circuit race, with Kathleen winning the points jersey as well.  Anna thus got to wear the leaders jersey for a second day going into the road race. Rebecca and Hiroko finished in the bunch, and all the other riders (Nina, Arielle and Yarden) were able to complete the circuit within the cutoff. Anna Milkowski, riding 2nd in GC, sacrificed by trying to pull back what became the winning break.  Kathleen Billington, wearing the points jersey, but known as a climber, waited until the hill to make her move and got 3rd up the hill or 5th on the day to apparently secure the 3rd spot in GC.  She also held on to the sprinters jersey going into the criterium.  It looked as if GC was now out of reach for the TARGETRAINING women, but perhaps another stage win as well as the points jersey was there. In the criterium race there was chaos and carnage (Nina Santiago crashed after sacrificing herself for the team doing sprint point leadouts and appears to have fractured her wrist). Delivering on her end, Kathleen Billington won the women's sprinters jersey. However, when Nina crashed in front of her, Kathleen got gapped in the criterium and slipped to 5th in the GC. Anna Milkowski, after riding a ferocious race and wearing the GC leader's jersey for two days, got 8th in GC.  Arielle Filliberti, showing promise got 9th in the criterium. Yarden Golan, who also rode a good race in the criterium called to say that all was good. Despite finishing last in GC, she was able to complete her first stage race ever (and a Pro/Cat 1/2 event at that).  And Rebecca also finished the race; a good showing by all.

June 24th. Nature Valley Grand Prix, Minnesota.  Update from Robin Farina. "Wow today (Saturday) was a toughie! 86 miles with a beast of a climb in the finishing circuits. We did the hill 4 times in the closing circuits. Kathleen was our top finisher today emerging from the pack to get up the climb 1:01 behind the leader. Anna and i were in a chase group that were 8 seconds off her pack at 1:09.  The other girls finished well. Tomorrow is a crit but it's not really a crit. There is a very steep climb in it and the length of the course is 1.2 mile long. It will be crazy hard!!!! GC will be mixed up tomorrow. The GC rundown is as follows: Anna is sitting 19th. I am 22nd. Kathleen is 36th. Andrea - 73rd. Rebecca - 74th. Arielle - 87th. Yarden, who crashed in stage 1,  is spending time with her family here in MN and is doing just fine. She is looking forward to Fitchburg. She has been training."

" June 22nd.   Nature Valley Grand Prix, Minnesota.  The second stage turned out to be both good and bad for the women's team.  Report from Greg Wolf, race director. "We had the whole team in there coming into the finishing circuit.  We started the day in 6th place overall as a team and were ready to go for it.  The race was rode out and back with 5 finishing circuits.  With 2 finishing laps to go out of 5 (2 miles a lap) Arielle was taken down which took Kathleen down at the front.  Kathleen was riding very well and was one of the top overall hopes for the race. Arrielle was riding very well as well being only 19.  Rebecca and Andrea went back for Kathleen and tried to get her back on but it was too fast that last lap and she lost time.  Anna and Robin were in the group soundly and tomorrow's Time Trial will open up the race a hair, but the most decisive days will be Saturdays Road race and Sundays very hard circuit deciding the overall.  We will be trying to still chase a stage result though."

June 21st.  Nature Valley Grand Prix, Minnesota.  The TARGETRAINING women's team has ventured to race in in Minnesota: Kathleen, Robin, Anna, Andrea, Yarden, Rebecca, and guest rider Arielle Filiberti.  The first day found Robin, Anna and Kathleen staying in the main pack, about 30 seconds off the breakaway group. The women finished 6th in the team standings (out of 16 teams). Today's race (results not yet in) was a 60 mile grueling road race with lots of wind. More to come shortly on how our tenacious women did.

June 17th.    Mandy Lozano in a 30 mile solo effort won the Housatonic Hills race, and Kathleen Billington (2nd overall) won the Connecticut road race title.  Rebecca Much got 8th.

June 3rd.  The women's team split into two squads, one going to Montreal to do the World Cup and the Montreal Stage Race and the other to do CSC, Lancaster and Redding.   This weekend, TARGETRAINING's US squad earned good billing by   placing Robin Farina in the winning break in Lancaster, only to see her get a flat with 3 laps to go.  Leigh held on for 16th place, and the newest rider on the team (Israeli National Team who arrived on May 31st), Yarden Golan, in only her second professional race, held on to finish in an event that only 35 women completed.
